Ellen's hometown was Miami, Florida, and she served as a private in the marines during World War II. 

After playing with the Fort Wayne Daisies in 1946 Ellen enrolled in the Florida State College for Women where she played on an intramural soccer team with former AAGPBL catcher, Mary Rountree.  During her college years Ellen pursued her love of sports in the Miami and Miami Beach Recreation Programs.  She was a regular on championship volleyball, basketball, and softball teams from 1946 through the 1970s. In the 1980s she competed in bowling at least through 1998. 

It's not surprising then that Ellen became a Miami Playground Director in 1957.

ELLEN PAULINE SCHALLERN, age 91 of Silver Spings, FL,, passed on March 30, 2015. She was born Jan. 2, 1924.

Ellen's hometown was Miami, Florida, and she served as a private in the marines during World War II.  She played on one of the marine women’s softball teams during her term in the service.

After playing with the AAGPBL’s Fort Wayne Daisies in 1946, Ellen enrolled in the Florida State College for Women where she played on an intramural soccer team with former AAGPBL catcher, Mary Rountree.  During her college years, Ellen pursued her love of sports in the Miami and Miami Beach Recreation Programs.  She was a regular on championship volleyball, basketball, and softball teams for a number of years beginning in 1946. Beginning in the 1981, she competed in recreation bowling programs at least through 1998. 

It's not surprising then that Ellen became a Miami Playground Director.

Ellen was interred at the Good Shepherd Memorial Garden in Ocala, FL.
