When Philip Wrigley set out to establish a women's baseball league in 1943. Wrigley was well established in Chicago and his goal was to prepare these women to move into the major league ball parks to replace the men who had left baseball to volunteer for the war effort. He met opposition to his plan in that first year and decided to start by establishing 4 teams in smaller towns within 100 miles of Chicago. Kenosha,Wisconsin was one of the four location chosen in 1943.
