1946 Muskegon Lassies | Utility, Chaperone | Unknown |
Eileen ("OB") graduated from Calumet High School in 1940 and went on to college and became an elementary gym teacher. Eileen, who had played for several years in Chicago's National Girls Baseball League, joined the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League and played for the 1946 Muskegon Lassies. She was known for her strong hitting and fielding. Seeing limited playing time in the AAGPBL, she finished out the season as the chaperone. At season's end, she went back to school and obtained her Masters from Northwestern University in 1951. She then went to The Chicago Teachers College and received a Master of Library Science in 1960. Eileen taught for 43 years in the Chicago Public School system and retired with tenure as a librarian. In retirement she moved to Albuquerque for 17 years before returning to the area. In 1992 Eileen, along with all of her league mates were featured in the National Baseball Hall of Fame for Women's Professional Baseball. She called it the proudest moment of her career.
