Arlene B. (Houston) Gordon, August 24, 1931 ~ January 28, 2026
Arlene B. Gordon, 94, a resident of the Hollidaysburg (PA) Veterans Home, formerly of Blue Knob, PA, passed away Wednesday January 28, 2026, at the home. She was born August 24, 1931, in Rockford Il, daughter of the late Taylor and Luella (Miller) Houston. On June 4, 1955, she married Russell C. Gordon. He preceded her in death on October 11, 1984.
Surviving are 3 children, Dannielle R. Gordon, Luella A. Eckard (Doug) and Jay S. Gordon (Melissa), 8 grandchildren Joseph (Lyndsay), Josh (Sarah), Kaylie, Cassie, Kristyn (Jared), Kyle, Ava and Ellie, and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother Taylor Houston Jr.
Arlene was a 1948 graduate of Harlem High School, Rockford, Il and served in the U.S. Air Force for 4 years. She retired as a machinist from Veeder Root and previously did civil service work.
Arlene was a member of the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League and was a member of the Rockford Peaches in 1949. She enjoyed bird watching, fishing and especially spending time with family.
Friends will be received on Saturday January 31, 2026, from 1P.M. until the 2:00 P.M. funeral service at Mt Hope U.C.C., 845 Knob Road, Portage, PA 15946, with Pastor Wendy Farber officiating. Interment at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
