Doris was 13 years old when she became Rockford's bat girl.  She attended Lincoln Jr. High where she liked Gym class best of all.

As a ball player, she played second base. She collected Peaches records and pictures, and loved being part of the Peaches.  In 1948 and 1949, Doris played for the Chicago North Town Co-Eds in the Chicago Girls Baseball League (CGBL), which was the AAGPBL minor league.

 Doris J. Calacurcio Johnson, 92, of Rockford, passed away on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at Riverbluff Nursing Home. She was born December 13, 1932, in Rockford, the daughter of Alfred and Helen Calacurcio. She married Walter Johnson on December 22, 1966, and Walter predeceased her in 1987. She was an antique dealer for many years in the Rockford area. was an avid baseball fan/player who was a batgirl for the Rockford Peaches as a teenager.

Survivors include her daughters, Susan Huhsman and Carrie Lamb, two great-granddaughters, Elle Husmann and Brooklyn Sisler, and her nieces. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Walter, granddaughter Ashley, and her brother Frank “Sonny” Calacurcio, and sister Aldine Calacurcio Thomas
