Stovie was half of the talented battery with stand-out Blue Sox pitcher Jean Faut, who tossed two no-hitters and a perfect game her way. She also provided great offense with a .467 average (7 for 15) and three RBI in the 1951 Shaughnessy Championship Series win over Rockford. Stovie continued her solid play in 1952 as the Blue Sox would again defeat Rockford in the 1952 Championship Series.
After baseball, Shirley moved to California and worked as an administrative manager for Mattel. In 1986 she moved to Arizona and worked for the Arizona Racing Commission until she passed away in 1994.
