Katherine A. Pechulis, 71, of 12 Alice Burke Way, formerly of Uxbridge, a Korean War veteran and a deputy tax collector, died Friday, June 8, 2001 in Mercy Hospital, Springfield, after an illness.
She leaves two brothers, a sister, nephews, and nieces. A sister, Barbara Becher, predeceased her.
She was born in Fitchburg, daughter of Louis T. and Miriam I. (Gilchrest) Pechulis, and lived in Uxbridge before moving to Westfield two years ago.
She graduated from Uxbridge High School in 1947. She was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War, serving nine years as a staff sergeant. She was a deputy collector of taxes in Westfield. Previously, she was an administrative assistant in San Mateo, Calif.
She enjoyed golf, and had also worked at the San Mateo Golf Club.
The funeral was held Tuesday, June 12, from Tancrell-Jackman Funeral Home, 35 Snowling Road, Uxbridge, with a Mass at noon in St. Mary's Church, 71 Mendon St., Uxbridge. Burial was in the St. Mary's Cemetery, Uxbridge. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
