Joan Marie (Eisenberger) Knebl

Joan Marie (Eisenberger) Knebl passed away on Sept. 11, 2012, at the age of 87. She was born in Passaic, NJ on Oct. 9, 1933. A member of the AAGPBL Rockford Peaches, she and her league mates were honored when the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY opened their “Women in Baseball” exhibit in 1988. Shortly after that, the movie “A League of Their Own” was released.

Joan retired from Ferrero, USA in 1994.

Joan was predeceased by her husband, a beloved son, a sister, and her parents. She was survived by two sons, grandchildren, cousins, a sister-in-law, friends, and wonderful neighbors.

Joan loved life, her family, visits to a casino, and signing autograph requests from baseball fans through the years. She was a wonderful Mom, daughter, and big sister. She will live in our hearts forever. R.I.P.

Joan’s burial service was private.
