In 1948, Bernice played for South Bend before being traded to Rockford. In late June of that year she pitched a game against South Bend for Rockford, and that may have been her last game in the league. In six innings of work, she gave up six walks, hit a batter, and gave up nine hits.
In July of 1948, she pitched for her hometown men's semi-pro baseball team, and her battery mate was her brother, Bob.
