Team Position Uniform #
1943 Rockford Peaches

Thelma Golden was a prominent pitcher in ladies' softball in Toronto when she was invited to the 1943 spring training at Wrigley Field. She signed with the League and was assigned to the Rockford Peaches, but returned home before Rockford played its first scheduled game. Golden told a local news reporter that an injury she had sustained a few years before made the League schedule too strenuous for her. She continued her amateur career in Canada until 1948 when she underwent back surgery and retired. Golden died in Toronto on July 18, 1980.  --Lois Browne, author of The Girls of Summer:  In Their Own League
