Helen married in 1946 and had 9 children and 11 grandchildren, all of whom became ballplayers.

HELEN HARRINGTON, 81, of Fort Wayne, died Tuesday, July 22, 2003, at her home. Born Aug. 2, 1921, in Fort Wayne, she was a Chaperone for the Fort Wayne Daisies.

She was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church, St. Elizabeth's Guild, St. Jude Rosary Society, past president and member of St. Francis Ladies Auxiliary, former volunteer for St. Joseph Hospital, and the Council on Aging.

Surviving are daughters, Kathleen A. Harrington of Austin, Texas, Linda L. Harrington, Mary Margaret Reavis, Ellen M. Harrington, Patricia L.Harrington, Lisa M. Harrington, all of Fort Wayne, and Eileen L. Ames of New Haven; sons, James M. Harrington of Hoagland and Michael T. Harrington of St. Joseph, Mich.; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren; and a brother, Phil Rauner of Fort Wayne.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence, and grandson, Chad Ames. Mass of Christian Burial [was at] 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Jude Catholic Church, Randallia Dr. and E. State Blvd., with visitation one hour prior to Mass. Visitation [was] also from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road, with a Rosary service at 8:30 p.m. Burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Preferred memorials to Masses, Cancer Services of Allen County or Parkview Home Health & Hospice.Edition.
