As a rookie from Detroit, Michigan in 1953, Arlene played with the South Bend Blue Sox during spring training and an exhibition tour with the Rockford Peaches.  Nearing the end of the exhibition tour, she unfortunately broke an ankle in practice and was unable to resume play with the Blue Sox for at least a month.  She apparently decided not to return to the AAGPBL when her ankle was healed because no mention of her was found after May 28, 1953.
