Dorothy "Kammie" Kamenshek was a player to be dealt with on the infield. She had mastered the position and was unequaled in skill and dexterity. She was a great hitter, leading the league in hits in 1946 and 1947 and maintaining a .267 batting average over her 11 year history in the league. Many former players consider her the greatest player ever to play in the League.

Dorothy "Dottie" Schroeder, top star shortstop for the all 12 years of the league's existence, dominated her position on every team she was assigned. Her fielding ability at short was unequaled in coverage and style. She had a command of herself on the field and at the plate. She could place the ball and get that clutch hit when the team needed it. This 1954 photo shows Dottie's confidence in herself as she strides across home plate undaunted by veteran All Star catcher Ruth "Richie" Richard hovering over home plate for the league leading Rockford Peaches.

Ann Harnett was the First player to sign a contract with the newly formed All American Women's League. She was an all around player in the infield and outfield. As an All Star and league pioneer, she was an important player in establishing that women could play the game and draw the crowds. She spent 5 years in the league, 4 of which were with the Kenosha Comets.

Doris Sams pitched her way in the league from 1947 through 1950 as one of the top pitchers in the League. "Sammy" was on the list of pitchers who were chosen to play on the League All-Star team 6 seasons of the 8 she played in the league.

Alma "Ziggy" Ziegler completes this play for the Grand Rapids Chicks 1950, going for the double Play from second base. That year she was honored as the"Player of the Year" for her many talents on the field and her popularity with players from her team as well as all the players from all the other teams in the league. "Ziggy" was a team leader and inspiraion to rookies and veterans alike. She led her team over many years as the Team Captain and led her team to win the Pennant Race in 1953.

This was a key play in a challenging match between Margaret Callaghan, 3rd base woman for the Ft Wayne Daisies in 1947, sliding into home to avoid a tag by the equally talented Dorothy "Dottie" Green Veteran player for the incomparable Rockford Peaches. Long time League umpire, Norris Ward, makes the call.
