Zillmer, Ruth A. (3/20/1933 - 3/13/2010)

Ruth A. Zillmer, 76, of Walworth, died March 13, 2010, at Williams Bay Care Center, Williams Bay.  She was born March 20, 1933, in West Chicago, to the late Frank and Anna (Brummel) Riese.

She married Lawrence Zilmer on June 25, 1955, in Fontana.  He preceded her in death Aug. 29, 2005.

She played for the Rockford Peaches in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League.  She was a member, and sang in the choir, at St. Benedict Catholic Church.  She loved to bowl, coached baseball, was a crossing guard, and drove bus for special eduction students.

Survivors include her children, Ed (Joanne), Walworth, Thomas, Princeton, Sue (Brian) Emerson, Walworth, Ron (Andrea) and Don, Darien; four grandchildren; sister, Shirley (Jim) Voltz, Walworth, and Grace (Allen) Hendrickson, Arkdale.  She was further preceded in death by a brother and six sisters.

Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 137 Dewey Ave. in Fontana.  The Rev. Daniel Sanders officiated.  Burial followed in Roselawn Memory Gardens, 3045 Highway 67 in Lake Geneva. Visitation was held 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at Toynton Funeral Home, 328 Kenosha St. in Walworth.
