Rogato, Grace (2/5/1932 - 2/1/1993)

rogato_graceGrace Rogato of Lynn, a purchasing agent for the city of Lynn, died Monday at home after a lengthy illness. She was 60.

A lifelong Lynn resident, Miss Rogato graduated from Lynn Classical High School in 1949. She attended Framingham State College and Northeastern University.

Miss Rogato began working for the city in 1955 as a clerk in the mayor’s office. She became a purchasing agent in 1972.

In 1969, she was selected as Lynn Businesswoman of the Year by the Business and Professional Women’s Club.

She was active in City Hall Employees Union Local 193 and served as president of the Massachusetts Association of Purchasing Agents in 1989 and 1990.

Miss Rogato was an outstanding softball player who made the New England Amateur Athletic Union All Star Team for five years and participated in four world tournaments. She was the only woman from Lynn to be inducted into the Massachusetts Softball Hall of Fame. She was inducted into the Classical High School’s Athletic Hall of Fame in 1991. She was a coach and referee for the Lynn Police Athletic League.

She is survived by her mother, Carmelia (Patrizzi); a brother, three sisters, several nieces and nephews, and several aunts and uncles and several cousins.

A funeral mass was celebrated at St. Pius Church, Lynn.

Arrangements were by Solimine and Rhodes Funeral Home, Lynn.
