Eileen O'BrienEileen M. O’Brien, age 93, cherished daughter of the late Eileen nee Fitzgerald and Michael. Loving sister of two deceased brothers. Devoted aunt of several nieces and nephews, and great aunt of five.

Eileen graduated from Calumet High School in 1940 and went on to college and became an elementary gym teacher. In 1948 Eileen joined the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League and played for the Muskegon Lassies. She was known for her strong hitting and fielding. She played briefly before heading back to school and getting her Masters from Northwestern University in 1951. She then went to The Chicago Teachers College and received a Master of Library Science in 1960. Eileen taught for 43 years in the Chicago Public School system and retired with tenure as a librarian. In retirement she moved to Albuquerque for 17 years before returning to the area. In 1992 Eileen, along with all former AAGPBL players, was recognized in the Women In Baseball exhibit at the National Baseball Hall of Fame. She called it the proudest moment of her career.

Visitation  was at Our Lady of the Angels Chapel at Marian Village, 15624 Marian Dr., Homer Glen, IL.

Entombment was at Good Shepherd Mausoleum. 

In lieu of flowers, donations to Catholic Charities appreciated.
